Brian began his career working closely with Risk Management teams, health care facilities and professionals in managing legal exposure and defending claims through litigation. In a larger firm setting, Brian was fortunate to work with and learn from some of the most experienced trial attorneys and risk management specialists in Southern California.
After entering private practice, Brian’s practice areas grew considerably as he began representing a wide variety of businesses and employees in transactional law and litigation. Working closely with various business principals, Brian’s transactional practice focused on drafting and negotiating complex employment handbooks, business policies and procedural manuals, employment contracts, and severance agreements. He continues to counsel Human Resource departments on employment, wage and hour issues, workplace harassment, hiring and terminating employees and represented both businesses and employees in court and administrative hearings.
Serving as general counsel for a number of national and international companies, Brian has focused on preparing complex business organization filings and negotiating and drafting joint venture, supplier, licensing, business collaboration and various purchase and financing agreements, both in the US and abroad. His background and real-world experience have helped him create innovative solutions in today’s complex business environment for various business types, their employees and owners.
Today, Brian continues to pursue his passion for helping clients and seeing them celebrate positive results.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin and being admitted to the California Bar, Mr. Ozanne worked as an associate attorney for some of San Diego’s most prestigious insurance defense firms. His initial practice focused on representing insurance companies and real estate developers in professional liability matters and subrogation claims related to complex real estate disputes.
Expanding his practice areas, Mr. Ozanne was asked to become general counsel for an insurance investment and general agency in Newport Beach, CA. There his practice centered on both litigation of contractual disputes as well as transactional matters related to capital raise evaluations, trusts, financing arrangements and private equity.
With over 17 years of litigation experience and drafting complex documents related to insurance and investment transactions, Mr. Ozanne currently represents a wide variety of businesses from real estate development firms to start-up companies, providing counsel on litigation matters and the creation of transactional documents and investor facing documents.
Mr. Ozanne resides in Carlsbad, CA with his wife and three children. Mr. Ozanne obtained his J.D. from the California Western School of Law in 1996.
